Finding JOY (this week’s Advent theme) in one’s work can be difficult for a perfectionist, because the work is never “quite right” and/or never “quite finished.” This is one reason why Jesus’ Perfect Priesthood and His service as our Perfect Priest should resound in abiding JOY for believers.

The chapter of Hebrews that many have been waiting for: Melchizedek. Wait, who? Yeah, the author builds a fascinating case for the redemptive work of God through a mysterious, obscure Old Testament character, continuing his case for Jesus’ great(er)ness.

As the Advent season kicks off, our study through the book of Hebrews takes an appropriate and timely focus on HOPE. So much more than a warm-and-fuzzy idea, so much more than a self-help-strategy, we need a hope that provides a “sure and steadfast” refuge. This hope exists in Jesus!
