When we don’t steward time well, it affects our stewardship of everything else
False Narratives represented by two "ditches":
The Hurry Ditch -- Productivity worship
The Drift/Sluggard Ditch -- Leisure worship
True Narrative = Psalm 90 gives us truths about time that help inform our stewardship
1) God inhabits all time, any time, and beyond time.
2) Our time is limited. (We inhabit a limited time, a short time, and are constrained within time.)
> The good steward’s response is to work from rest (instead of work for rest)
3) We have a duty to steward our time.
> The good steward’s response is to
- "Count our days" -- Purposeful discernment
- “Make our days count” -- Redeeming every opportunity
4) Our stewardship connects us to God who is bigger than this world.
- We are made for God
- We depend on God
- “Presence” is a key missing piece in many of our lives
> The good steward responds by planning with open hands (ready for interruptions).
